The Ravager was reigning champion of the Imperial Arena. He was once known as Raging Ox, the younger brother of Black Whirlwind.

As Raging Ox[]

Raging Ox grew up up watching his older brother compete in the Imperial Arena to become one of its best fighters. Ox felt inspired and eventually decided to compete himself. When Kai Lan the Serpent, a former champion who ran the Arena via the organization known as the Guild, failed to recruit Whirlwind as muscle, he turned his attention to Ox. Ox was drawn in to Kai Lan's words and promises and accepted his offer, alienating himself from his brother. Whirlwind left the Arena in disgust and Raging Ox became the new Arena Champion, and began fulfilling the duties Kai Lan gave him.

The rage he felt in losing his brother became too much for Whirlwind and he decided to confront Kai Lan about it. Having drunk himself into a stupor, Whirlwind found Kai Lan and attacked him, but his attack was intercepted by Ox. Staring at the bloody form of his brother, whom he believed to be dead, Whirlwind ran away into hiding.

As The Ravager[]

Kai Lan, however, felt that Ox was too valuable an asset to lose. He healed Ox's wounds and bound him with a strange magic that made Ox seemingly so strong that normal attacks would not make him falter, but also bound him to Kai Lan's service. Dressing him in a new attire and a mysterious mask, Kai Lan kept Ox's real identity a secret by concocting a story that Ox retired with his Arena winnings, and introduced him to the Arena as "The Ravager". In his new moniker, Ravager was a force to be reckoned with. His strength and resistance made him such an unstoppable force that he soon began nearly killing his opponents and he once again became champion.

Eventually, the Last Spirit Monk decided to compete in the Arena and quickly rose through the ranks to earn a match against Ravager. Kai Lan was unwilling to let his control over the Arena fall, but the crowds cheered the young prodigy on, goading Kai Lan into granting the match. The Monk won the match, becoming the new champion and Ravager's mask fell off, revealing his true identity to everyone. An enraged Whirlwind jumped into the ring and decided to end his brother's life, releasing him from Kai Lan's twisted service.
