Dirge, also called the Land of Howling Spirits, lay west of the Jade Empire. Essentially a range of sheer snowy mountains, the land was sparsely populated and housed few communities.
In general usage the word Dirge described the monastery and home of the Spirit Monks. There the monks lived in and tended to the Temple of Dirge, the holy temple of the Water Dragon. The land in and around the temple was unique as it existed both in the human world and in the spirit world.
